Obituary for Pamela L. Pickel (Snell)

Pamela L. Pickel (Snell)
Pamela L. (Snell) Pickel, age 53, of Windsor Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 with her husband by her side after a valiant year and a half battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was the wife of William M. Pickel. They were married on July 9, 1983 in First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. Pam and Bill were never apart.
Born in West Reading, she was the only daughter of Barbara L. (Althouse) Snell and the late John R. Snell, who died November 10, 2005. Pam attended Hamburg High School. She worked as her husband's bookkeeper for the family business, Pickel's General Hauling, up until her passing. Pam loved nature. She enjoyed going up to their camper in the mountains of Lycoming County most weekends. She loved feeding the bears at their campsite and sitting around their nightly campfires. Pam loved walking her two little dogs, Jazzy and Molly, every day she could. They were her babies. Molly especially loved Pam and would be by her side nearly always.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two brothers: Richard E. Snell, Clifton Park, NY; and J. Scott Snell, Wyomissing Hills; and two nieces: Alexandra and Marisa. Pam is also survived by Bill's siblings, including his sister: Debbie Spence, who took care of Pam for over a year.
A memorial service to celebrate Pam's life will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from First United Church of Christ, Third and Pine Streets, Hamburg. A visitation with the family will be held in the church Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Hillside SPCA, Inc., P.O. Box 233, 51 SPCA Road, Pottsville, PA 17901. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit, www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
