Judith A. Kern, 73, of Perry Twp., passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in her residence with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Robert J.W. Kern, Sr. They were married on September 12, 1964 and celebrate fifty-one years of marriage.
Born in Shamokin, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Gywnneth (Stillwagner) Strausser. She was a 1962 graduate of Shamokin High School. Judith was a manager of the deli at Redner's Market, Leesport for ten years. She then worked as an inspector for Springford Knitting Mill, Leesport. Judith was also a Visiting Angel for four years. She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Leesport. Judith enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and flowers.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one son: Robert J.W. Kern, Jr., husband of Cheryl (Purcell) Kern, Perry Twp.; two grandchildren: Amber (Kern), wife of Stephen Rausch; and Robert J.W. Kern, III; and one great-granddaughter: Chloe Rausch. Judith is also survived by one sister: Linda (Strausser) Herb, Shamokin; and three nephews: Harry Strausser, III; Robert Herb, Jr.; and Jeffrey Herb; their wives and children. She was predeceased by one brother: Harry Strausser, Jr.; and her infant sister: Nancy Strausser.
Services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. A viewing will held in the funeral home Saturday 10:30 to 12:00 noon.
