Obituary for Verna M. Rausch (Bowers)

Verna M. Rausch, 92, of Perry Twp., passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 in the Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the wife of Calvin C. Rausch, who died April 13, 1977.
Born in Windsor Twp., she was the daughter of the late George and Lillian (Rauch) Bowers. Verna worked as a sewing machine operator for twenty years, last worked at March Sportswear in Edenburg. She then worked part-time at the Kwik Shoppe, Shoemakersville; and also babysitting. Verna was an active member of St. Paul's (Smoke) Lutheran Church, Windsor Twp., where she served on church council and sang on the choir for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Shoemakersville Fire Company; and also taught sewing for 4-H for many years.
Verna is survived by her children: Calvin G. Rausch, husband of Faye D. (Snyder) Rausch, Perry Twp.; Larry C. Rausch, husband of Sandy J. (Herbst) Rausch, Windsor Twp.; Linda F. (Rausch) Oswald, Wind Gap; and Carol A. (Rausch) Dietrich, Blandon; nine grandchildren: fourteen great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: George Bowers, Hamburg; and three sister-in-laws: Ruth Rausch, Jean Bowers, and Marlene Bowers. Verna was predeceased by a great-granddaughter: Courtney; three brothers: Arlan, Warren, and Leon Bowers; and four sisters: Esther Kauffman, Mildred Schappell, Shirley Geiger, and Ruth Berg; as well as an infant sister.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Paul's (Smoke) Cemetery, Windsor Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul's (Smoke) Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2613 Old Route 22, Hamburg, PA 19526.
