Condolence: Reading Nick's story is like re adding about our son David who lost his life to heroin on June 30, 2017 after celebrating 6 months clean. He struggled with addiction for almost 3 years after doctors fed him Percocet after his back surgery at age 19. Like you, we were never embarrassed or ashamed by his addiction. Our children's stories will help others stay clean. There is hope. They can recover. My heart feels your loss but also know there is a sense of peace knowing they are no longer struggling. They'll find each other in heaven since they sound like they were cut from the same cloth. My condolences to your family.

Condolence: My heart breaks for your family. I lost my only son at age 22, almost 17 years ago to a heroin overdose. I lost a very close friend in February, aged 54, who just could not get away from his addictions, from a Fentanyl and Alcohol overdose. I am so very glad you decided to tell Nick's story, sad as it is, perhaps at least one person will benefit from your heartbreaking honesty. The very saddest part is people don't seem to understand how easy it is to succumb to this killer. I commend you for reaching out to the world to try to educate those who may be tempted. I hate to tell you, the hurt may lessen, but the missing and wondering what might have been, still tears me up, but I do my best to remember all the wonderful things about my son, who was loving and good and smart, and all I can do is hope one day to see him again. You are in my thoughts, may Peace be in your future, with my sincerest hope for your healing...Deb
